The careful use of proportional rectangles and squares in this garden creates a continuity with the style of the building and provides a link to the space outside. The planting of Dichondra ‘Emerald Falls’ between the exposed aggregate steps that were poured on site, leads out to a lawn of RTF, Rhizomatous Tall Fescue grass, that has been raised on this shallow sloping site to enhance the sense of continuity between entry and outdoor space.
A dramatic organic low curve of fresh green supplied by the grass-like plant Lomandra 'Tankia' contrasts with the dominant use of pale grey and blue-grey foliage of Eremophilla 'Kalbarri Carpet', Eremophilla 'Beryl's Blue' and Acacia podriafolia which were chosen to match the paint colours on the external walls of this contemporary family home.
The path from the driveway leads to the front entry of this contemporary family home via a semi-private garden space separated from the public footpath by snow pears and planted garden bed. The developing canopies of Cercis Forest Pansy and height provided by the complementary foliage colour of Cordyline Midnight Star highlights the simple square of lawn. The geometry and placement of a simple row of masonry cubes blurs the distinction between the building and natural garden space in this Roy Roberts designed garden.
